Hey there, listeners. It’s Brett Molina. Welcome back to Talking Tech. Are you looking for a new doctor, but you’re not sure whether their office takes your health insurance? There’s an update that has been added to Google search that is going to make that process a whole lot easier. Google announced changes to search results that are going to provide more information as you go through the process of looking for new healthcare, whether it’s maybe you need to find a specialist or a new primary care doctor, whatever it is you need. Among the details that will surface when you perform a search on Google, information like which insurance providers their offices accept, also what languages they speak in their office.
For example, if you search for doctors near your city, it will pull up results as it usually does, but you can filter those results to break down things such as whether those offices accept Medicare. You can also drill down even further. If you search for a specific doctor, you can click on an option within the results that gives you insurance information. So you can find out specifically what insurance that doctor supports. Here’s the quote from Google, “By providing timely and authoritative health information plus relevant resources and tools on Google search, we’re always exploring ways to help people make more informed choices about their health.”
They’ll also show too, if you like, whether doctors speak multiple languages in their offices. Google says they support over a dozen languages in these search results. So you can find out things like whether the doctor’s office speak Spanish, whether they speak American sign language, whatever it is that you need. Again, a super useful tool. As if Google search wasn’t already just super useful and super helpful, this is one more way. And especially with something like health insurance, which is always something that is such a pain sometimes when you’re just trying to go to a doctor, and you’re trying to figure out what insurance can I bring, do they accept whatever. This is a nice, quick way to give you a sense of what’s out there and what to expect. So again, another really useful tool from Google and definitely super helpful.
