India-born Parag Agarwal is new Twitter CEO
Twitter promoted company insider and chief technology officer Parag Agrawal to replace CEO Jack Dorsey. The social media networking platform joins tech giants Apple, Amazon and Alphabet in tapping a company insider for the top job. Agrawal joined Twitter as a software engineer and has been with the company for over a decade. He was appointed chief technology officer in October 2017. He oversaw Twitter’s technical strategy and has been responsible for improving the pace of software development, while advancing the use of machine learning across the company. Qualcomm launches ‘most-powerful’ SoC for Android smartphones
Qualcomm introduced the successor to its flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021. Dubbed Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform, as per the company’s newly adopted single-digit naming scheme, the new chipset will power Android flagship smartphones in the year 2022. The company says that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 features several technological firsts. It is claimed to be the world’s first to feature a 10 Gigabit 5G modem-RF solution as well as an 18-bit ISP. Reliance Jio new prepaid plans go live, price increased up to 20%
Late last week, Reliance Jio announced an increase in prices of its unlimited data plans. The new prices went live this week. Post the price hike, Reliance Jio’s base plan, with 28 days validity, priced at Rs 129 costs Rs 155. The prices of data add-on plans too have been increased. The cheapest data add-on plan priced at Rs 51 that offers 6GB data now is priced at Rs 61. Reliance Jio’s price increase comes just days after rivals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea announced similar tariff hikes. The duo too increased prices by almost 20%. The week also saw the launch of a new mid-range smartphone from Redmi — Redmi Note 11T 5G smartphone. The Redmi Note 11T 5G smartphone will be available in three RAM and storage options. The 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs 16,999. The variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage at Rs 17,999 and top of the line variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 19,999. Realme increases prices of its entry-level smartphone, C11 2021
Realme has increased the price of its entry-level phone Realme C11 2021. The smartphone is now priced at Rs 7,499 onwards (2GB RAM and 32GB storage). While the 4GB+64GB storage variant will now cost Rs 8,999. To recall, the handset was launched in June this year with a price tag of Rs 6,999 and Rs 8,499 for the 2GB and 4GB RAM variants, respectively.
