Men’s tennis hosts Denver Saturday, Tulsa Sunday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men’s tennis program returns to action Saturday and Sunday, when they host Denver University and Tulsa University at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Texas Tech (6-5) returns home for the first time in two weeks.
Tech played No. 14 Texas A&M and LSU last week in Dallas. After falling to then No. 14 A&M, Tech rebounded for a big 4-2 victory over the Tigers.

Texas Tech pulled back above .500 last Thursday when they defeated LSU, 4-2. In that match, Tech got off to a good start, as Isaac Arevalo and Piotr Pawlak sealed the doubles point after Reed Collier and Dimitrios Azoidis secured a 7-5 victory. In singles action, Azoidis put his side up 2-1 after LSU tied the match at one. True freshman Olle Wallin continued his strong freshman campaign, earning another straight sets victory for the Red Raiders. Franco Riebro sealed the deal for the Raiders, winning his match in three-sets.
SCOUTING TULSA:
Tulsa entered the weekend at 6-3 overall, and No. 28 in this week’s ITA rankings. The Hurricane earned win number seven on Friday when they defeated No. 54 Denver, 4-2. In that match, the Hurricane earned the doubles point and won on court three, four and five. A pair of Tulsa players, enter the weekend ranking inside the ITA Top-100. Kody Pearson is ranked 92nd overall while Ezequiel Santalla is ranked 99th overall. Tulsa will take a three-game winning streak into Sunday’s matchup with Tech.
SCOUTING DENVER:
Denver also enters the weekend ranked in this week’s ITA rankings. Denver sits at No. 54 overall and are 5-3 after losing to the Hurricane last night. In last night’s match, DU won on both court one and two, before falling 4-2 overall. On court three, Matt Summers went to a third-set tiebreaker before falling 6-4.
Denver has played one common opponent this season in Utah. The Pioneers fell 4-3 to Utah at home.

Texas Tech continues a four-match homestand next weekend when they host Wichita State and UTSA on Saturday and Sunday. First serve against the Shockers is set for 11 a.m., while Tech and UTSA is set for a 10 a.m. first serve.
